Imagine speculative worlds to synthesize better futures
Today, designers have the responsibility to make sense of the changing worlds and are increasingly recognised as future makers. Whatever they design, they are making the shift from thinking about an inevitable future to being open to a critical and creative conversation about possible futures, by envisioning what’s next and translating that into something tangible.
Drawing from speculative and futures-oriented practices, Angelica, Giovanni and Silvio will share some design techniques to envision speculative worlds. By moving from the centricity of the artefact and going beyond the immediate moments of use, participants will learn to stretch their thinking and experiment with a new approach to consider the social and technical systems required to keep these artefacts working.
